FELT & COPPER – warm carpet
The following projects were developed with the assistance of Nicolas Poupinel, a felt producer based in Brittany. He has a unique semi-mechanical felt manufacturing studio which allows the inclusions of different materials into the wool before the process of felting.
Here, copper circuits have been integrated throughout the wool. A clip system makes the low tension connection with the inside circuit through a voltage transformer. A 12-voltage current then warms the copper. Felt, a great insulator, protects users from electrocution or burns and will not ignite.
This Project is supported by OSEO, an organism who promotes innovative design projects.
